College of Osteopathic Medicine Marks Grand Opening at Detroit Medical Center

More than 250 guests toured, heard speakers and attended a reception at the college’s new facilities Sept. 17 at the Detroit Medical Center. The grand opening — complete with tent, ribbon-cutting and a video of Sparty getting a medical physical — included student-led tours of classrooms, laboratories, study areas, conference rooms, a student lounge, anatomy labs and more. Speakers included Joel Ferguson, chairperson of the MSU Board of Trustees; Lou Anna K. Simon, president of MSU; John Haapaniemi, chief of staff at DMC; and William D. Strampel, dean of the college.
